Happy New Year!

December 2012 Connection

Map of all the stops we made while visiting with friends and supporters

Finishing our Fall Season in the USA

The start of our last month in the States was spent visiting friends in NW Iowa where Meg went to college. We had the chance to share briefly in a chapel service, connect with several students, and talk with a girl who will likely join us in ministry for the summer in Greece. At the end of our trip, we got stuck in Minnesota during a blizzard, which became a special, God-ordained opportunity to encourage our hostess, who recently lost her husband in a tragic accident.
"As the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and do not return to it without watering the earth and making it bud and flourish, so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater, so is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it."
- Isaiah 55:10-11
The second half of the month was spent helping plan the church’s candle light service and writing Christmas cards, thank yous, and requests for support. We have also been able to visit with a number of families from the churches of the local community. As usual, we wish we had time for more, but for now we are thankful for what time we have been given. And what fun it was to be with family and friends for Christmas and New Year's!!
Our final Sunday here in the States we spent sharing at the Sully Community Church alongside one of our professors from GrBC, Dr. Robert Crellin, who came to visit former student, Nathan Van Wyk. After sharing quick facts about the college and singing a Greek praise song written by a former Greek Bible College student, Robert shared a great message about why studying the Bible is so important.

Happy New Year!

"Wherever you go, God is sending you,
Wherever you are, God has put you there
He has a purpose in your being there.
Christ who indwells you has something
He wants to do through you, where you are.
Believe this and go in His grace, love & power."

«εἰς ὃ καὶ προσευχόμεθα πάντοτε περὶ ὑμῶν, ἵνα ὑμᾶς ἀξιώσῃ τῆς κλήσεως ὁ θεὸς ἡμῶν καὶ πληρώσῃ πᾶσαν εὐδοκίαν ἀγαθωσύνης καὶ ἔργον πίστεως ἐν δυνάμει»
- 2 Θεσσαλονικείς 1:11
“Therefore we also pray always for you that our God would count you worthy of this calling, and fulfill all the good pleasure of His goodness and the work of faith with power”
- 2 Thessalonians 1:11
  • Thank you for praying for safe travels throughout our time in the States. We did meet the ditch once, but we were safe with no damage and back on the road in 15 minutes!
  • We were grateful for the generous hearts of a church family's significant donation towards the Greek Student Scholarship Fund.
  • We are leaving for Greece this week! Please pray for a safe trip, and a smooth transition back to our life and ministry in Athens.
  • Please also pray for the students, faculty and staff as another new semester kicks off this month. May the Lord continue to bless the GrBC community with great growth in the knowledge of God's Word and then living that out for His glory alone!

We shared the story God has written for us at a couple different youth groups, encouraging the students to trust God to write their life story for His glory!
Boys being boys!
