Theodore Brent Vasileiadis is born!

August 2014

Theodore Brent Vasileiadis is born!

With great joy we introduce our son to you, Theodore Brent Vasileiadis. He is our precious "Gift from God" (in Greek: "Theo" = God and "-doro" = gift), named in special honor of our fathers: Vasileios, Brent, and Theos. Born on August 5, 2014 at 15:37. He's now been home with us for about a week, and we are enjoying parenting!

Summer ministries

You would expect the summer months while working at a college to be "slow," however this year they have gone by way too fast! Not only were we preparing for our son's arrival, but ministry activities kept us plenty busy as well. This summer has looked a bit different for us since Meggan was in the last weeks of her pregnancy. After tying up a few library loose ends, she shifted her focus to leaving behind good direction for volunteers who will fill in for her.

Pavlos, on the other hand, hasn’t slowed down, and in addition to working on important new IT projects for the college, he also busied himself with other summer ministry outreach, specifically in the areas of church planting and prison ministry.

Church plant in Kypseli

Pavlos is pictured here with most of the men
from the weekly Bible study he leads in Kyspeli
Several people have been praying for a new church plant to begin in the downtown area of Kypseli. We have been involved with a group of fellow believers working towards this reality. Pavlos has been leading one out of a handful of weekly Bible studies taking place in the area where seekers regularly attend. Once every two weeks, all who participate in the different studies gather together to worship and pray. We also try to become better known by organizing events in the community. One of the more well received activities so far was the cleaning of the main square in the area which sparked some interesting discussions as well as building relationships with a number of new local acquaintances.

Prison Ministry

This is the main entrance of Korydallos prison.
Behind these bars (no pictures allowed) there is a host of men
who desperately need someone to share the gospel with them.
In the prison ministry, we celebrated the release of an inmate who had been attending the meetings regularly. He was pronounced innocent after being held unjustly for a full year, and he was finally able to join his wife and two children who live in Italy. We believe there are more people like him, and we give glory to God as we see him working in their hearts. No matter if a person is innocent, or if they have realized and repented for their actions, God is asking for His church to be a light in the prison as well.

«ἐγὼ ἐν αὐτοῖς καὶ σὺ ἐν ἐμοί, ἵνα ὦσιν τετελειωμένοι εἰς ἕν, ἵνα γινώσκῃ ὁ κόσμος ὅτι σύ με ἀπέστειλας καὶ ἠγάπησας αὐτοὺς καθὼς ἐμὲ ἠγάπησας.»
- Ιωάννης 17:23
"I in them, and You in Me; that they may be made perfect in one, so that the world may know that You have sent Me, and have loved them as You have loved Me."
- John 17:23

Prayer Praises & Requests
  • Please pray that God would bear much fruit for His glory through the efforts put forth in this summer's ministry activities, and not only through our own work, but also through the efforts of our students and co-laborers at the college. We wish we had time and space to share all that the Lord has been at work doing through His people in Greece and beyond!
  • We would like to thank you for your prayers throughout Meggan's pregnancy. We praise the Lord that Theodore Brent arrived safely despite a few difficult moments which led to the need for an unplanned c-section. Please continue to pray for us as new parents. We are very excited to introduce you to him when, Lord willing, at the end of this year, we will be spending a season in the States which we'll explain more about in our next newsletter coming soon! Enjoy the rest of your summer everyone!
Leaving the hospital,
safe in Daddy's hands
All ready for Theodore's first walk at the park, wrapped up snug against Mommy!
